but its funny how you can get 10 'tradesman' down to quote for the same job yet the prices differ massively, im not saying low price = crap job or high price = best job as it doesnt in the building trade at all.

ive just had a gable end rebuilt as an RSJ rotted and caused the wall to drop(and wall ties failed) i had 8 quotes.

in fact seeing as this started with a quote/guestimate have a go at this..

1926 large two storey gable end and front corner elevation bowed, large crack from 1st floor to almost roof i.e mortar failure not cracked bricks, built from accrington brick, soil pipe in side one window in ground floor, and one door.
how much to drop it, replace the RSJ (rsj is not needed as it was there from change of use) to window lintle 1200mm wide, clean bricks and rebuild plumb?
