go for twin sidedraughts,big cam,nicely flowed head,get the bottom end
lightend and balanced,knife egde the crank, performance ignition system
if you still got some money left over enlarge the valves etc
also slap in some hi comp pistons

my mate had an engine
like that in his mk2 escort and it went really well, gave a few
turbocharged car owners bit of a fright lol.
also dont forget good flowing headers and exhaust, a 5-speed box behind
it makes all the difference to.
