On roadcars there has to be a weak link to take away any risk of twisting the chassis if a hard hit is taken.
This used to be the tube in tubular constructed items.
On these with a solid bar we us an 8.8 strength bolt that will snap/bend first, and a bracket that is designed to give in to the impact.
If requested and subsequent use is for motorsport we fully weld the bracket and use a 12 grade bolt.
