205 is a perfect choice, although I would steer clear of Mi16 ones for track days, you can still get major oil problems cornering and it will cost a lot if you are rebuilding the bottom end frequently.

I have a standard 1.9 engine in my 205 track car and it is fine for the job so far I spent the money on a cage, slicks, bilstein coilovers, big brakes and a limited slip diff instead! It will get a power upgrade at some point but that is last on the list
