No it's not on line.
I wrote the manual for a chap called Bernard Scouse -
www.autoteknix.co.uk (or something like that) - he is the founder and inventor of such an idea, so he owns the rights to the manual (as he paid me to do it), I wrote it for his Export customers.
He was building the cars out of his back yard (single garage) I asked him if he would do me the conversion (£10K buys you 300BHP), as we got talking he realised that I was quite capable (Chartered Engineer) and asked me if I wanted to have a go.
I asked him if he had a manual and he said no but could I write one, he basically supplied me with
ECU - Emerald
Engine mounts
drive shafts
Intercooler
Gear change mechanism
Intake
Exhaust downpipe
He asked me to have a crack at it and to phone him when I got stuck, 4 weeks later I phoned him and told him it was ready to start.
No welding ! just a tadge filing required.... other than that it goes straight in !! turn the key for an instant 250BHP out of the box.
For the 300BHP + conversion I did this more or less on my own with Phils fabrication skills........easy!
There are about 15 or so conversions in the Country - mine is the only Garett GT28 Conversion, the others use the IHI VF34 turbo mounted to a Jabbasport manifold...........I could have gone this route but I just wanted to do something different off my own back.
Personally I think my installation is better thought out from a heat point of view.
Now I'm not too sure Bernard still does the conversions from home, he gets a Company in Daventry to do the conversions for him, Steve Gugleiami is the owner. He has got a 350BHP Elise and he won the GP Turner cup in it and he was up against 800 -900BHP Evo's and still wipped their asses. He also came 3rd in the drifting championships.
He now does the conversions, but I know that the price has increased ! I think your looking at £14K for a 300BHP conversion.
Personally - if you can get the bits, it's quite easy.....the only hard thing is the gear change linkage mechanism, everything else is off the shelf.
Now any of you FORD boys thinking of jumping ship - come down and I'll give you a test drive..............
What would be interesting, would be to put a Cossy motor in mated to a 2WD gbox (400BHP ?) now I know that's never been done before !!!!!
Now that's gota be worth a try !
