i will wait for Paul, a.k.a. a.k.a to have his say about the shells being the same, there are slightly sifferent to cossies ones.
You knew I would be along anytime soon

The production (1986 made) cosworth 3dr shell is a version on the base model 3dr one but with sheet metal changes, these are :-

bulk head has a different hole for the abs master cylinder and a strengthening plate added around it and also has an extra hole under the battery tray for the abs loom - except Ryans for some weird reason

The gearbox tunnel is wider and gearbox mounting points are revised. The rear crossmember has mounting points added for the arb

The front crossmember has a different tow hitch

The tilt slide sunroof was actually an option on the base model so there are a few around with these fitted, quite rare though

The front wings on the RHD cosworth ones have holes for indicators

The base model was not built after early 86 in RHD so none of these would have the revisions of the cosworth version unless reshelled into a replacement cosworth shell - but LHD versions after 1986 would have them as these continued to produce a non cosworth 3dr in LHD until the late 80s

Then in 1989 Ford built another batch of replacement 3dr cosworth shells and these were different again - but thats another story
