well i had an e-mail back from AP Racing.....

here is the mail i sent

hello,

i am just emailing to write about the fitting of clutches to the Ford Escort Range for 1986 onwards.

I myself bought and fitted one of your Organic Fast Road clutches for my 1990 Ford Escort RS Turbo in June 2006 and as recommended by your website I fitted the adjustable pedal, improved quadrant and a new clutch cable to optimize clutch release in light of the higher release loads as per the guide shown on the following web page. http://www.apracing.com/roadcar/clutch/epmods.htm

However yesterday while trying to reverse off my drive the 'improved' quadrant snapped releasing the clutch and my car locked into reverse which then hit a kerb before i had the chance to try and stall the car to make it stop.

It would seem that the recommendation made by AP racing is false as it clearly cannot cope with the higher release loads.

I also appears that i am not alone in this probleem as can be seen by this link to passionford website https://passionford.com/forum/viewto...asc&highlight=

Many other Ford Escort owners have suffered from your recommendation failing leaving some stranded with no use of the clutch pedal!

Some owners have replaced the quadrant suggested by AP Racing with a metal alternative and have reported good results, this can also be seen in the link to the passionford webpage.

It does not say anywehre on the recommendation page that the quadrant is a serviceable item with a life expectancy as short as 1000 miles in some cases.

Perhaps you could produce metal quadrants to stop this problem happening in future or at least edit your website warning potential buyers that this such problem can occur.

If you were to produce metal alternatives then there would be a great interest for them myself included, i could generate at least a further 10 sales alone from people who have also experienced similar failures when using your products.

I have to admit i have been very pleased with the functioning and the quality of all the AP Racing products i have used so far but this has cast a bad view of the company in my eyes especially since it seems to be such a common problem.

I anticipate your reply,

Regards,

David Holmes
