The central web IS there for a reason.
Due to the way the charge leaves the compressor it will spin as it travels down the charge pipe.
If an intercooler is fitted this will iron out the spinning effect at this point.
However, depending on how it is thrown out of the IC, as the charge travels down the next pipe the friction caused by the air passing the sides of the pipe will cause it to naturally spin agiain.
If the charge entered the plenum spining without the central web it would tend to feed the cylinders at one end more.
As i say i don't think it is too much on a cossie as the IC matrix removes the majority of the spinning.
