one of the things that wouldnt install on vista was the software for my newish x-fi soundcard, so thats not old is it.
Also my webcam, that is pretty old but agian its a labtec job so its pretty popular id imagine, yet it wont work so i dont think its all down to old hardware and thick users, some cases might be but others arent
