I think it was due to me being paid shit money when I was younger, so had to make it last, then as the business took of the money went up but the spending cycle never really changed.

When i was looking to buy my first place i saved 20k in under 2 years

another trick is to build up 1k in the bank, then it just seems to grow and grow, I would get really agro at myself i it ever fell below the 1k mark and would be chuffed to see more cash in the bank when ever I went to draw out my weekly allowance

The upside to this is i never ever think about payday, never have to borrow money and can always treat myslef if I want to

I managed to sort my misses money out for her and she clear 9k in 12 months

It's not about being tight, it is just a case of not buying tat that you don't need, don't let people spunge of you either, how many times have you sat in a pub while a mate sits and smoke all your fags, or bought a first round only for half the people to sod of after a pint or two??

One thing that did used to grate me was when we would all go out as a group, the mates birds would all be bought drink - vodkas etc, then not buy a round themselves fine if it's your misses, some of us were single at the time and would be stung for buying them drinks all night
