If it does have a tight pullet as some do, use some grinding paste between pulley and nose of crank and grind a little, this solves all the future problems, remember to clean off ALL traces of it afterwards!!
As jon@work says easy to do, just check carefully as mistakes are expensive, may as well do tensioner for peace of mind, or ast least give it a good spin to see what it is like.
