Just put 13mm longer ones on mine yesterday... bit of a fiddle bending the backplate to get in but no real probs. Let me know if you want pics as took a few.
Some were pretty tight and I mangled a couple of my spare wheel nuts which I used to protect the threads on the old ones - just in case I needed em again.

Use a washer in my opinion - helps to tighen em in
