I used to earn 120K a year, and still never had any spare money, last year I earnt about half that, and i dont have any spare money, im just one of those people that NEVER has any spare money.
Thing is though im MUCH happier now than I was then, having been in a fairly wealthy position for a while the thing I found is that the things that make me personally happy (I know other people are different probably) dont actually cost much.
I think money buys all the things that dont matter, and none of the things that do.
I would sooner have a 5K car I built myself than a 200K one someone else built, and when I was living in a stupidly big house I never went in most of the rooms anyway, I would be happy in a 2 bedroom flat, so long as ive got my mates and my family are healthy and ive got a set of wheels to roll round in that are mildly entertaining, i couldnt really give a fuck about much else financially!
I could still be happy on 20k a year im sure, id just live in a smaller house and have a few less project cars or whatever, wouldnt stop me enjoying life
