Default wiring in ERST in place of CVH (mk5)

lots of questions in here so if you cant be arsed reading then click off now lol, although any help at all would be very much appreciated!

ive fitted an ERST lump into my mk5 cab but i cant get the thing to start.

i think i might be doing it the hard way tho..

im trying to use both looms at once, ive got the mk4 loom wired up to then engine but instead of wiring everything from that i thought it would be easier for the time being if i just wired the 2 ignition plugs up together so that turning the key on the mk5 loom was effectively doing the same on the mk4 loom. i kept the mk5 starting and charging circuits as i assume they are the same?

now the cars pumping fuel (im still using the stnadard pump atm, will be buying an uprated pump when ive got the engine starting) and theres a spark but its not wanting to start although it is turning over.

should i completely remove the mk5 loom from ANYTHING to do with starting ie mk4 wires for fuel pump, ignition, spark, starter motor?

will i have to make the mk5 loom go live at all just to get it to run?

ive tried to keep my mk5 sensors like the temp sensor, simply to save me from having to try and rewire my clocks but im not sure exactly what plugs i should keep.

any help really would be much appreciated!

cheers
