Changed to a genuine one and it sorted the problem. Ford tanks ones
HAVE got an internal swirl pot.. When you take the sender out you can see it as it's bright yellow in the right bottom corner!
Pattern part on mine with no probs
I don't run it down into the red though very often,not tight like that!!!!!
Perhaps some pattern part tanks have baffles like standard tank
Your right about the different types of tank though,there are 2 sizes of hole on the top of them,internal pump type have the big hole,cosworth has the small hole just for fuel gauge sender
