Similar thing happened to me with my 28i capri, got hot cos rad was blocked. I got the car home and released the pressure out of the header tank, next thing fizzzzzzzz a jet of red hot water done me straight accross the forehead, fuck it hurt, luckily no blisters or scars, hope you are not too badly hurt
