Default copy of post on cossy area - rs500 tuned up motor set up

Hi all - hope someone can start to point me in the right direction. Have just installed a low comp (7.1) tuned up motor with BD 14 cams etc. Got it ticking over on what I believe to be a standard chip and a set of yellows - but wouldn't rev... perhaps not suprising so far? Way too lean I believe? Crypton tune said so too.

Put my greys on it and vroom - what a difference... until the plugs sooted up.

New plugs and vroom again for about 2 miles - then pop, splutter, and backfires galore (scared the hell out of the girls in the car behind us). Cleaned the plugs with a brush but no difference.

I need to get it to a rolling road so now a trailer job looks likely, unless someone thinks of a potential obvious oversight, I'm just putting it down to the engine's highly tuned state and lack of chip to support it?

Any thoughts appreciated folks
