Default Time Attack / D1 Drifting at Silverstone yesterday

I went along to this to support Steve Fitzpatrick and Dan, who were racing in the club-class and pro-class respectively, and although Steve couldn't make it due to his car not quite being ready, but Dan put in a good performance for the Fords .

This was despite the fact that each wheel had a different camber (after measuring on a borrowed gauge) and toe etc , it turns out that it was still on Martin's "set-up by eye" settings when the beam was originally thrown on , the car scraped through qualification again (thanks to the demise of a couple of cars) and Dan manage to improve on his qualifying time by several seconds .

Unfortunately, he finished tenth (on a 1m05.528s - 0.06s behind 9th!) and with just over 4s covering the fastest to slowest, shows how close it is. The yellow RC Developments Evo won with a 1m01s (what a machine - you need to see the detailing on this, rear mounted radiator, paddle shift gearbox, turbo big enough to swallow other cars ).

The drifting was also closely fought and was as entertaining as ever, with the popular Pole taking the win .

I was surprised at the lack of spectators, given the amount of top flight machinery that was there - in fact, this actually made it better, as it was just like being at TOTB I .

However, having watched it has got my feet itching again and I'm going to try and organise a Ford team for the club class (which was won by a Skyline). If anyone is interested in showing the Jap cars that old Fords just get faster, let me know .

Martin should be taking part soon (so he says ), and I want a go again, and Warren is going to give it a shot as well (aren't you Warren!? ).
