My girlfriends dad walked out on her when she was 7 so I kind of know how you feel mate. The letters I have seen that she wrote to him have broken my heart. She tells me 10 years on she is well over him but she is not and it shows alot and it breaks my heart everytime. Luckily now she has a step dad who she calls dad and he treats her like she is an angel.
