I had the same problem and narrowed it down to oil rings being gummed up so took a chance on an additive (which I don't normally believe in) called Auto RX out of Florida and it worked wonders, cured the problem in 550 kms. They are on the web. Thought I could risk $25 and it paid off

Oil rings on the piston, correct?????

I also have this problem, just cant se the smoke when overrun.. she about consumes about ½l pr. 500km if I give her some heavy pedal often. Head is very healthy with new stems and guides.. and turbo, hmm.. no oil inside inlet or exhaust. Maybe I should try this Auto RX
Yes I mean oil control rings on the pistons. I checked compression pressures and they were fine, those are the top rings on the pistons, but oil rings were gummed up and Auto RX cured it. When you add it to the oil it is not normally a quick fix you have to run 2000 kms but in my case it was cured in 550 kms. You have to change the filter several times as it cleans the inside of the engine completely
