I don't really agree with A nor B, but I don't want to encourage people to cutting springs just because the people that are most prone to doing it are the ones that most likely make it wrong. Cutting 10& away rom a linear spring will increase it's spring rate by 11%. Also, can't see the shape being changed as standard springs are just cut too, not flattened. Trimming spring length by cutting is best kept to non porgressive springs in any case or then you need to know quite well how much to trim from which end.
