Be interesting to see if you fall foul of the £19 scam...


I had a log book go 'missing' with DVLA a couple of months back and I had to pay £19 to get a copy...

They gave me all the usual flannel about registered post etc etc but I have never in 20 years of car ownership ever had one go missing.

But it got me thinking... if they accidentally 'lost' a percentage of logbooks out of the thousands they must process every week then there would be a tidy little profit with everyone having to pay £19 for a copy.

Lets say they 'misplaced' 50 a week, not many in the grand scheme of things but its £50,000 a year in the governments coffers... and thats working on 10% of 1000 logbooks a week

With 23,000,000 cars in the UK then thats an 'acceptable' level of error

Yet another stealth tax.....
