Higher capacity of 2.5 litre engine is very nice and all but it suffers from severe thermal problems. On our track/show car we run STI 2006 radiator, dual fans operated by autronic and still we need a very larg mocal oil cooler to keep oil temperature down. On recent track day here I've seen standard STI 2006 overheat - they require oil coolers to be driven hard. Still additional cappacity maybe worth it if it's go out of corners quickly, although I'm not exactly sure if this is needed in ultra light, ultra-short geared RA.
Interesting comments reference to the overheating - I have a friend with a 2.5l converted Impreza running about 470 bhp (IIRC). I know he is keen to take it to the nurburgring. perhaps he should do some testing first - a long way to go to find that the cooling system isnt up to the job.
