you cant compare football fans to other sports imo as its a working class game where the fans are mainly working class. these things happen im afraid. and it will never stop
Sorry but what a load of shit!

The majority of the country is working class, which by natural logic says that the majority of sports fans of any sport, be it F1, Rally, BTCC, cricket, tennis, etc are working class.
It's not like it's a "cheap" sport either - you can go to the Silverstone Grand Prix for the same price, if not less than a footy game (I am not a footy fan, but some of the guys are, so I only know what premiership games cost like Man U games or Spurs, Arsenal etc, no idea what the crapper teams games cost mind) - same with Cricket at Lords, or tennis at Wimbledon, or Rugby at Twickenham....
So using the "escuse" of being working class is bollocks. And how is it an excuse anyway? "ooh, look at them fighting - discgracefull" "Don't worry, they are working class" "oh, thats okay then"

well then why aint there rucks at rugby, formaula 1, wimbledon etc..?
its not an excuse at all. its merely a point of view. rugby union is not working class, rugby league is.
tennis is a sport enjoyed by mainly "posh" people. strwberry's and cream and pimms and all that. cant see the council estates scumbags digging all that can you.
Thats my point! Why DON'T you see this at other sporting events?
But I doubt very much you actually belive that working class people don't go to Rugby Union matches? And there aren't any working class people at Wimbledon?
I don't think it's got anything to do with what "class" of society goes to sporting events - I think it's got to do with a selection of fans that don't actually go for the footbal, but actually to have a fight. Maybe these guys are working class, maybe they aren't - personally don't think it's got anything to do with it. My mates are working class and go to a lot of footy matches, but they never start fights.... I think it's more to do with people specifically going to football matches to get in a fight - same as the cocks that do it in pubs...
no i know that working class people will go to rugby, tennis etc... im not trying to say that they wouldnt. most fights at football aint started by fans anyway. as you said its just by a few knob ends that love gettin there heads smashed in evrey saturday
rugby surprises me that it doesnt have violence tho as its a brutal game. it proves the saying right. "football is a gentlemans game played by hooligans and rugby is a hooligans game played by gentlemen"
maybe its not a class thing but thats how i feel it is, not the complete answer to it all but i think its got a lot to do with it. definitely not something that should be associated with the game but it happens. the game today was actually a great game of football to watch but will probably now be remembered for the wrong reasons
