Continuity isn't particularly helpful - it won't tell you the current-passing capability of the wire, ie if the wire is damaged

Have you got permanent 12V at the red wire ?

The fuseable links are simply smaller sacrificial bits of wire that connect to the battery, through which the fusebox, ignition switch, etc are fed. Undo the positive battery terminal wiring and unwrap the tape 8 inches and you'll see what I mean
