It compares the fuel flow rate to how fast the wheels are turning, so based on that it should be accurate.

The range feature however is particularly piss poor, mainly because of how the sender is mounted in the tank, drive down a hill and all of a sudden you have gained a LOT more miles before you run out of petrol according to the range

Drive up a hill and all of a sudden you've lost all your petrol and have 0 miles
