I wouldn't use a HDD camcorder for track days, you will get lots of problems from vibrations and shaking etc. Get a MiniDV one, they are a doddle to transfer data to the PC with via firewire - Plug it in and the PC controls the camcorder, rewinds the tape and transfers it to the PC faster than normal watching speed, then you have an AVI file on your PC to play with

It is very easy and hastle free and the tapes are mega cheap. A HDD one isn't good if you go on holiday and the HDD is full after the first day - you can't just buy more tapes for it
