Definately go for a transit.
First make sure (if second hand), if its a rear wheel driver,
It's had the timing chain recall and that it has, at one time or another, had an auxillary belt tensioner fitted.
If you get one, go easy on the clutch/ set off as flywheels can be quite weak.
If you go tor a front wheel driver, ensure regularly serviced and has regular fuel filter changes, common rail injectors can sometimes give probs.
