If you do change it, get yourself a new thermostat. Only about £3 or £4 from Ford. After years of use/age the temp they open at (allowing water into the radiator to cool) increases leading t opotential overheating before the therm opens. If you take the housing off then it's worthwhile for a few quid replacing that whilst you're at it.
