Tighten it up tight with a powerbar then rewind it right back slack, re-tighten with your fingers and the socket. Stick the split pin in and jobs a good'un.

That's the way I was taught to do it anyway when I was an apprentice
between 180 and 200 lb/ft from memory, but it has been about 5 years sicne i did one

the way you say is for the split pin version, these ones need the nut staking/bent over to stop them from coming undone
