Dump Valve
I don't thrash my car about, hardly ever spool up the turbo too much, but over the past few days I've noticed that my dump valve isn't blowing off as much as it normally does.
i've only ever been in turbo cars that have dump valves, so not sure how one should sound without one, but the noise that mine is making after spooling sounds like the air is being released in small, sharp bursts, kinda like a chatter. The DV lets some go, but very very little. I wondered if it was maybe when the engine was a bit colder that this happened, as I'm sure it has done it before, and noticed it wasn't long after starting the engine.
The pipe I have coming off my DV is not the usual kind, it's actually a piece of piping that was used on an old Escort for the washers, so it's very flimsy compared to the usual type of pipe that should be used.
I wondered if this was maybe the problem? I wrapped a cable tie around the connection on the DV to make sure it wasn't leaking any air out there, but it doesnt seem to have made much difference, maybe slightly.
My gf has the proper blue samco type hose, so I will try this later, but anybody who can suggest anything else, the info would be greatly appreciated.
it's a Bailey dump btw, in case that is of any importance
Thanks
