I was thinking along these lines, but imo, these defenders are playing the top level in Spanish football, maybe not THE top team, but all the same they are professional footballers of same or very similar calibre to players in the top flight of any league.

We could all argue differnt points all day, but how often these days do you actually see these types of goal? Not many. Ronaldo goes past one or two players at most. Gigg's goals was special, and Maradona went past the same amount of top flight English defenders with just as much ease. Nobody blames the defence for these goals, the attckers are praised for their ability.

I don't think the defence is to blame for any of these goals, it's just awesome footballing skill
