has less low/mid performance than a turbo engine of the same peak power, but n/a always will have less, but in the powerband this car will feel totally in another world to drive.
throttle response is easy to gain in a turbo car, just look at wrc machines,

a turbo engine would have better low/mid/top torque, the only thing it would lack is in revs,,, but this isnt a problem with the correct gearbox
well yeah, twincharging and/or good ALS and you got no trouble with that too.

maybe its built to class regs?

or maybe, like most cars, he is doing it as he can.
