On the splines is just to get the box back off easier, been a ford it'l probably last all of a few week so it wont matter.
That didn't make a lot of sense to me
The spline to so the shaft locks into the clutch plate, not to make anything easier.......
And the bearing is made of metal, a plastic one wouldnt last long once the engine & clutch gets hot
