A lot of things have an effect on traction including ride height, wheel size, geometery settings, tyre quality, spring strength, power delivery etc etc. With some work on these sort of things you can get a high powered RST to grip right from 2nd gear.
Mine used to never break traction in 2nd, but now with well over 300bhp (DD tested

)2nd gear can break away if I just nail the throttle, and on a cold damp night even 3rd will sometimes spin a little. There isn't a lot more I can do that is an easy fix, other than fit a road legal slick and then I will just be helping to kill my transmission quicker.
Bringing the power in progressively will help a lot.
