Update, I remembered seeing something last time I took the doorcard off, so I had another look last night. I have a power window interface!!!! If I remember it's a "Ranger 282" or sumthin. The leccy window wires are all soldered in to the loom behind the original switch but inside the car all I have is a white and a red wire, which have been cut off. I'm tempted to just put the red to live (fused of course) and try earthing the white (correct me if I'm wrong as that's what the accessory wire does) and see if the windows go up!

Find a manual or info on the unit before you try it, but it probably will work.
You'll need to wire it into the alarms total closure wire though.
