Okay - Firstly, I did miss that post when you originally put it up on the board. Apologies, Stu, I simply read the rules at the top of the Politics and Rules Forum, which doesnt IIRC give quite as much detail.

Even so, I have to say it doesnt change my opinion on the subject matter.

You mention a vote. As said before, I understand that this is not a Democracy, but if there was a vote, presumably this was with those with a vested interest in the site - fair enough.

Given that I have no vested interest, I am lucky enough to be able to voice a contrary opinion to the vote.

To keep it topical - as with the budget you could have introduced a rule that became effective on all new names as of a given date.

Given that the genuinely interesting and useful people in the Ford world are relatively static (ie the big players have been around for a long time, and there will be few new guys of equal standing), this would keep pretty much all the good eggs identifyable, and the newer - bad eggs out.

Would this not be a better and more managable than the idea of having techy ratings that become somewhat elitist?

So in a word - revote and let the original 'characters' of the PF site keep their names - they are the very life blood of the site, and anonymity will devalue their input.
