Um - how on earth can you prove how much money is made from a name?

My point exactly. Your statement is of no real relevance as its impossible to say what simon does or does not earn from the use of his business name.[/quote]

I dont wish to be rude, but you have misquoted me by only mentioning half of my response!

My point is that it is irrelevant to my mind.

I read the site rules yesterday when it first came to light, and have re-read them again now. As far as I can tell it relates to the protection of the traders given that they have to pay £200.

Dont get me wrong - this is not a democracy, it is a business, and as such you can make whatever rules you like.

To put a different perspective on it, in business, I work for a company known as Alder King. It is a relatively large Building Consultancy company. Dont get me wrong, not name dropping, just providing relevance to my next point.

As part of our day to day business, we attend events, and provide seminars. We have also historically on occassion provided advice to people via a Chamber of Commerce booklet. Antequated I know, but again - bear with me.

The same said booklet also contains adverts. These adverts are paid for by traders.

To my mind - it is kinda the same thing (I know it is tenuous, but I wanted a realistic market model). If you want a geniune advert for your buseinss (ie a signature and a number and website) then you pay.

If you are contributing, and you just want your username - then let it be.

What has changed recently to make the situation arise?
