I must admit i do like it when fags go up, as more often than not it means everyone will benefit somewhere else. So come on smokers, keep on smoking and handing over the cash!!!
Seriously though, the government would be buggered without smokers as its a major source of income for them. They know they can get away with banging the extra on fags and then making them look 'good' by knocking a few pence of other things.
won't work though - need to think that there will be a higher percentage of less well off people that smoke - if tax goes up massivly, they will have to either give up, or they will find ways arounf paying the tax.. - which would then put you back to square one. The government has to find the money from somewhere....
