6 - 8 pts for no insurance, and 12 pts doesn't automatically mean a ban. Plead exceptional hardship and may get to keep licence. 7yrs ago I had 8pts and went to court for no insurance, pleaded hardship and walked out with 14pts and still had my licence. Not proud of it, but we all do stupid things when we're younger.
