I had a vibration prob similar to the 1 you describe. Turned out to be the shaft that runs from the back of thr gearbox forwards to the front diff. Apparently the UJs go regularly. Jack the driver's side of the car up (assuming it's RHD) put your hand on the shaft & give it a wiggle.
