Default Wireless router security

I have a netgear rangemax 240 wireless router, my neighbour (a good friend of my dads) set it up, however he knows the password and whatever else you need to connect/view logs etc and sais he can pick the signal up from across the road...I'd like to make it secure but not got a clue where to start!

I know you can change the password, by doing this what am I stopping anyone from viewing? Is this the only thing I need to change to stop anyone connecting to my internet (that knows the password?)

Remote management is set to "everyone" should I change this too "Only This Computer" does that just mean ONLY this computer can send/recieve the signal?

Also in basic settings... "Does Your Internet Connection Require A Login?" should this be set to yes? its set to 'no' atm

Could someone explain what these things should be set too and why please? to summerise...I want to set my router so no one can connect to it except the 2 pc's in my house and the people with the authorisation

complete mong when it comes to wireless
