ok know this probably sounds a bit stupid
But its for me mum
She dont want or need broadband so its 56k dial up she is using, she has got a laptop so will sit in the living room with it, but the phone point is in another room.
This is what she has been doing and running an extension cable out to the phone point.
Being a modern laptop its got in built wireless, so have been trying to find a way to have a dial up modem and router set up combo whatever in the other room plugged into the phone point that she can then access "wirelessly" from the living room
Dont seem to be anything like that out there
Most dial up modems seem to be usb plugs and routers dont seem to have inputs for usb's (so probably wouldnt work anyway)
Have found one router that said it has got a serial port for dial up "back up" incase of loss of broadband, but that about £150 and then gotta find a dial up modem that connects via serial port, have seen a couple of US robotics that say they do, but then they £70+ so with the two its pver £200+. AINT happening
So think you get the idea of what im after, oh and if you can do it, how do you do it

, like my broadband router saves all my connection data in that how would it work on a dial up connection on the pc. Would it work just like an old dial up and then just "use" the modem attached to a router as if it were on the pc direct ???
Oh and ye guess the easy way is just run a permanent extension cable to the other room, but she heard of this "wireless" thingy lol, and wants something like it so she dont have to even plug the pc into anything just turn it on and have net access.
