Sounds like the forks are weak in the pressure plate, new clutch kit needed me thinks and as said above dont use a cheap and nasty kit if you are keeping the van as they are shite and dont last and usually cause problems

Crunching could be caused by a worn synchro between 1st and 2nd gear, unless its fairly serious i would try the new clutch kit in it first and hopefully that makes a difference and gives a smoother gearchange.
