Default Controlling Large Injectors

Mainly for Stu this - if u get some time

Anyone else with experience please join in.

I am interested in case specific examples in injector control. What makes one ECU or map more suitable than the other? What sort of pulse widths can you go down to? There is a finite limit when the injector opening time (or rather coil charge time) is roughy 1ms. I assume the ability to control such small pulse widths is down to the internal accuracy of the calculations carried out by the ECU. For example, if u have a resolution of only 0.1ms, and your idle pw is 1.3 ms, increasing it to 1.4ms (the smallest step) will increase the fuelling by some 25%.

T6 has a reputation for good inkector control, is this primarily down to resolution, and how do the OE systems compare (Marelli/EEC). Does anyone actually bother to measure the injector opening time? And how much of a handicap is a Hi Z injector, bearing in mind the smaller current takes longer to charge the coil.

Many thanks, Rick.
