I wouldn't attack the current springs with an angle grinder as it'll make the ride worse. Best bet would be to get some new springs for it. How high does the front end sit?

I reckon someone may have fitted the wrong springs previously, when I put coilovers on mine I had to fit the cosworth springs and dampers to my 1.8 Saph (as this had the coilovers previously) and it made the car sit lower all round than coilovers. Couldn't get the car off the drive due to it having combat bumpers which were a bit low
