The Zetec is lighter than the I4 but has less power, is no more reliable and can't be made into a 2.3 for peanuts. Parts are available for the I4 to get plenty of power

The ZETEC is detuned as standard, that is why!!!
So bolt in a detuned engine that is hard to get a capacity increase out of because it is the easiest option

Who needs a capacity increase? A 2 ltr ZETEC is quite capable of 250 bhp. The engine is detuned by the poor inlet manifold and ECU map, an easy fix. The ZETEC has had far more motorsport sucess than the I4 which says it all.
