Default Part P petition

http://petitions.pm.gov.uk/Part-P-Review/

This may not apply to most of you as it is an electrician thing, but read on anyway.

Part P is the governments version of CORGI registration but for sparky's, The gripe most of us seem to have is that it is not the individual person that is 'registered' but in fact the company. This means that if i should wish to start up my own business i would have to pay to register (£430ish) no problem so far!

The bit where it gets annoying is that a large company with say 30 electricians can register for the same amount of money, but all of its employee's are then covered. This make no sense to me.

To register you have to have 2 examples of your work inspected, with a one man band this is fine as the inspector will get a good idea of the Quality of that persons work. With a company though they could show off the work of one of the better employees and get approval no problem, but who is to say that the rest of their workers are any good??

This is not fair on small businesses, it is expensive enough as it is without the government sticking their oar in yet again. Please sign this petition and get the rules changed.

Thanks Matt Moore
