You dont need to take the signal off the cam itself. A metal bolt on the the front pulley and an inductive pulse sensor will work perfectly.
He himself didnt mention anything about sequential injection that was me. I dont even know what management he runs at present?
I can not really think of another reason to have a cam phase sensor though
