Default Got the RS engine, now best way to replace old one???

Hi there, just a quickish question lol.

Here's the story so far....

Our old n/a 1.6 cvh was running on 3 cylinders so after checking everything I took the head off to give it a good looking at.

Finding that on cyl. 4 the exhaust valve cam follower had majorly dished itself in obviously meant the valve wasn't lifting at all ie no power.

Didn't want just to fit a new cam etc as the engines just not worth spending cash on as it's sooooo slow.

So we hatched a plan......

Junk the carb'd up doggy old 1.6 and replumb the car (the mk5 'scort you see below (yeah lol I know...)) from tank back with a tasty EFI turbo setup.

One engine, T3 turbo, inlet, ECU, rad, intercooler and loom from a fiesta RST purchased and now the fun's gonna start....

Still got to find a fuel tank atm but i'll forget that for now...

Gonna have to use the existing gearbox (ib5 i think) if it's compatible?

So i've yet to take the old block out which leads me to the question is it possible to take what's left of the old engine out and leave the 'box in place the fit the RST block in and rejoin it to the old 'box?
Or in practice is it best to take them out as a unit then split them?

Any practical advice would be very gratefully received!

Thanks,

Karl
